For '15+ the only trucks that always have the 9.75" axle are those with the 3.5L EcoBoost engine. Max Tow might put the 9.75" under a 5.0L truck, but the majority of them have the 8.8".Adding a 31-spline axle to a Ford 8.8 rearend means you are increasing the strength of that axle by 30 percent (19.3 + 10.7 = 30 percent increase in strength). You have to take a pic of the front of it where the pinion comes out for me to tell for sure but it is a 8 or 9 inch rearend. Most likely an 8 inch as they were standard on these cars. Where it reads 2 79. There should be a decimal between the 2 and 7 if you look for it.... Anyway, 2 . 7 9 is an open (non trac-loc) 2.79 ring and pinion. If it was 2 L 7 9 then it would be a trac-loc. The above assumes it hasn't been changed..
